How to Play Rummy Card Game

HERE’S HOW TO PLAY FAN2PLAY RUMMY

If you’re new to Rummy and are wondering how to play the game, we’ve got your back.

Here are a few basic terms you should know before getting into Rummy

  • Draw

Picking a card from the closed or open deck.

  • Declare

On completing the objective of a 13-card rummy game, the winner finished the game by discarding a card to the finish slot and declaring the cards to the opponents.

  • Discard

The player has to draw a card from the closed or open deck and then put a card face-up on the open deck.

  • Suit

A set of 13 cards having the same color and symbol. There are four suits:

    1. Hearts
    2. Diamonds
    3. Spades
    4. Clubs
  • Set

A group of 3 or 4 cards (including Joker cards)of the same value, arranged in different suits.

  • Sequence

A Pure or Impure group of consecutive cards of the same suit.

Now that you know the basics, let’s get started.

Arrange your cards into proper ‘Sequences’ or ‘Sets’ that follow a mathematical relation or format. This is called building a ‘Meld’, either consisting of 3 to 4 cards of the same rank or 3 suited cards in a valid sequence.

Arrange your cards into at least 2 sequences, one of which should be a Pure Sequence. Other cards dealt can be taken as close as possible to return valid Sequences and/or Sets.

You can only draw the top card from an Open or Closed deck. Discarded cards aren’t available for making Sets or Sequences.

Sounds difficult? It isn’t. Rummy is super simple and rewarding. All it takes is a little practice.
